Well, it’s all over for another year.

The winner of Tropfest 2013 (with the Tropfest Signature Item: ‘balloon’) was We’ve All Been There, directed by Nick Clifford, a graduate of RMIT. There’s a bit of contention from fans on the Tropfest page, as the winning film was based on a song/folk tale.

A winner is a winner though, and you can watch the 2013 one here. For those who live outside Australia, check it out here.

Tropfest is Australia’s most prestigious short film festival, and the largest short film festival in the world. One thing that differentiates it from other festivals is the Tropfest Signature Item (TSI), an item that film-makers must include (whether as an incidental item or as a main plot device).

Next year’s TSI is CHANGE. Get cracking, moviemakers!

  1. Is it just me or are the Tropfest winners getting significantly better each year?

    • Yeah, I feel like production values have been increasing over the years. It’s a good and bad thing, I think.

        • Well what kind of chance does an amateur have going up against pros with actual big name actors and the like?
