Mark Waid, a decorated comic book writer, took to Twitter today to raise awareness for a college-level course called ‘Gender Through Comic Books’.

According to his tweets, this will be “the world’s first comics-related Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)”, which means it will be available online at no cost for anyone who is interested.

The course is being put together by Ball State doctoral candidate Christy Blanch, and will feature appearances from Gail Simone, Scott Snyder, Brian K. Vaughan and Matt Fraction. These comic book authors will talk about gender representation and gender politics in their comic books.

In addition, those enrolled will have the opportunity to live-tweet questions to the authors being interviewed.

Waid enourages everyone to enrol and spread the word.
